Intel unveils new Core series X and Core i9 processors


Intel announced the new series of Core X desktop processors, designed to run on the X299 chipset, using the LGA-2066 socket and focused on gaming, virtual reality and content creation.

The new line of processors contains the Core i5-7640X, i7-7740X, i7-7800X, i7-7820X, i9-7900X, i9-7920X, i9-7940X, i9-7960X, and i9-7980XE models.

Core i9 processors are part of the Skylake X architecture, while the i5 and i7 models of the Kaby Lake X platform.

The Core i5-7640X has four cores, four threads, 4.0 GHz base clock, 4.2 GHz turbo Boost 3.0 clock, 6 MiB L3 cache memory, 16 PCI Express 3.0 lines, 112 W power consumption and Support for two channels of 2,666 MHz DDR4 memory.

The Core i7-7740X version supports two channels of 2,666 MHz DDR4 memory, four cores, eight threads, 8 MiB L3 cache memory, 4.3 GHz base clock, 4.5 GHz turbo Boost 3.0 clock, 16 PCI Express 3.0 and 112 W power consumption lines.

The Core i7-7800X features six cores, 12 threads, 8.25 MiB L3 cache, 28 PCI Express 3.0 lines, 3.5 GHz base clock, 4.0 GHz turbo Boost 3.0 clock, four-channel support Of 2,400 MHz DDR4 memory and power consumption of 140 W.

The Core i7-7820X has four channels of DDR4 memory of 2,666 MHz, 11 MiB of L3 cache memory, 28 lines of PCI Express 3.0, eight cores, 16 threads, base clock of 3.5 GHz, clock turbo Boost 3.0 of 4.3 GHz, Turbo Boost 3.0 clock of 4.5 GHz and 140 W of power consumption.

The Core i9-7900X has 10 cores, 20 threads, 3.3 GHz base clock, 4.3 GHz turbo Boost 2.0 clock, 4.5 GHz turbo Boost 3.0 clock, 13.75 MiB L3 cache memory, 44 PCI Express 3.0 lines, power consumption of 140 W and four channels of DDR4 memory of 2666 MHz.

The Core i9-7920X has 12 cores and 24 threads; The Core i9-7940X 14 cores and 28 threads; The Core i9-7960-X 16 cores and 32 threads; And the Core i9-7980XE 18 cores and 36 threads.

The new processors will cost $242 (i5-7640X); $339 (i7-7740X). $389 (i7-7800X); $599 (i7-7820X); $999 (i9-7900X); US $1,199 (i9-7920X); US $1,399 (i9-7940); US 1,699 (i9-7960-X); and $1,999 (i9-7980XE). Intel said the processors will be available as early as 2017, but has not revealed the exact launch date.
